AutoCAD Floor Plan Tutorial for Beginners: Part 2 - Adding Walls and Doors
In our previous tutorial, we learned the basics of creating a floor plan in AutoCAD. We drew the basic outline of our room, added windows, and created layers for different elements of our drawing. Now, we're going to take things a step further and start adding walls and doors. ## Adding Walls 1.Select the Wall Layer.
Before you start drawing walls, make sure that you're on the correct layer. To do this, click on the "Layer" drop-down menu in the top-left corner of the screen and select the "Walls" layer. 2.Draw the Walls.
To draw a wall, use the "Line" tool. Click on the starting point of the wall and drag your cursor to the end point. Hold down the "Shift" key while drawing to constrain the wall to a horizontal or vertical direction. 3.Adjust the Wall Thickness.
Once you've drawn a wall, you can adjust its thickness by using the "Properties" palette. Click on the wall and then click on the "Thickness" field. Enter the desired thickness and press "Enter." 4.Add Windows and Doors.
To add a window or door to a wall, use the "Insert" menu. Click on the "Window" or "Door" drop-down menu and select the desired type. Click on the wall where you want to insert the window or door and drag your cursor to the desired size. 5.Trim the Walls.
After you've added windows and doors, you'll need to trim the walls to fit around them. To do this, use the "Trim" tool. Click on the wall that you want to trim and then click on the window or door that you want to trim it around. The wall will be trimmed automatically. ## Conclusion In this tutorial, we learned how to add walls and doors to a floor plan in AutoCAD. We also learned how to adjust the wall thickness and how to trim walls to fit around windows and doors. With these skills, you'll be able to create more detailed and accurate floor plans. ## Additional Tips * When drawing walls, it's a good idea to use the "Snap" feature.
