  • Hammer
  • Wrench
  • Measuring tape

    • 2 pieces: 2 feet by 8 feet
    • 2 pieces: 1 foot by 8 feet
  2. Build the frame. Assemble the frame of the duck house using the 2x4 lumber. The frame should be 4 feet wide by 8 feet long and 2 feet high.
  3. Attach the plywood to the frame. Use wood screws to attach the plywood to the frame. Start with the 4 pieces of 4 feet by 8 feet plywood, then add the 2 pieces of 2 feet by 8 feet plywood, and finally the 2 pieces of 1 foot by 8 feet plywood.
  4. Add the roof. Cut a piece of plywood to fit the top of the duck house. Attach the plywood to the frame using wood screws.
  5. Add the door. Cut a door into the front of the duck house. The door should be large enough for the ducks to easily enter and exit the house.
  6. Add the hardware cloth. (Optional) If you want to protect the ducks from predators, you can add hardware cloth to the door and windows.
  7. Paint the duck house. (Optional) If you want to paint the duck house, now is the time to do it. Use a paint that is safe for animals.
  8. Float the duck house. Place the duck house in a pond or other body of water. Make sure that the water is deep enough so that the duck house will not touch the bottom.

Tips

  • When choosing a location for the duck house, make sure that it is in a safe place away from predators.
  • If you live in an area with harsh winters, you may want to insulate the duck house to keep the ducks warm.
  • You can also add a ramp to the duck house to make it easier for the ducks to enter and exit the house.
  • Make sure to clean the duck house regularly to keep it sanitary.

With a little planning and effort, you can build a floating duck house that will provide your ducks with a safe and comfortable home.
