Procedure:

Day 1:

Read aloud Magic Tree House: Dinosaurs Before Dark.

Character Analysis:

Discuss the main characters, Jack and Annie, and their adventures in the book. Have students identify their character traits and actions that support those traits. *

Summary and Comprehension:

Guide students in summarizing the main events of the story on a whiteboard or chart paper.

Day 2:

Dinosaur Research:

Have students work in groups to research different dinosaurs that lived during the Cretaceous period. They can use the internet or books to find information about their size, appearance, and habits. *

Dinosaur Diorama:

Divide students into teams. Provide each team with construction paper, scissors, and glue. Have them create dioramas of a Cretaceous forest, including the dinosaurs they researched.

Day 3:

Diorama Presentation:

Have each team present their dioramas to the class. They should explain the different dinosaurs they included and how they lived in the Cretaceous forest. *
